Understanding Therapy
Psychotherapy — sometimes called "talk therapy" — is a collaborative process between you and a trained therapist. It's a dedicated space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Through honest conversation and evidence-based techniques, therapy helps you understand the patterns shaping your life and develop the tools to change them.
Psychotherapy works at the root — helping you build lasting insight, resilience, and a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
A short consultation call to see if we're a good fit — no commitment required.
Your first session is a warm, open conversation about what's brought you here.
Together we identify goals and an approach tailored to your needs.
Session by session, you develop insight, tools, and a deeper sense of self.
A therapist offers a structured, confidential, and professionally trained perspective. Unlike a friend, a therapist has no personal stake in your decisions and uses evidence-based techniques to help you explore patterns, develop insight, and build lasting change.
It varies. Some people find meaningful relief in 8–12 sessions; others benefit from longer-term work. We'll regularly check in on your progress and adjust the pace to what feels right for you.
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I'll ask about what brought you in, your history, and what you're hoping to achieve. There's no pressure — it's a conversation. You are in the drivers seat and I am just along for the ride.
Yes. Everything discussed in therapy is strictly confidential, with very limited legal exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others). I'll explain these clearly at the start of our work together.
Yes. I offer secure virtual private sessions to clients across Canada, so you can access support from wherever you feel most comfortable. These sessions can be through video or through the phone, whatever you prefer.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can ask questions and see if we're a good fit — no pressure, no commitment.
